Arrghhh just got my first fac police encounter , went into a 1.0 system and my sec status has reached -2.5
I'm wondering if the response is quicker / more powerful depending on the sec level of the system ?

1.0 is worse than 0.5 then ?
If for instance you go in there unprepared and have no idea they are going to do that ?
And you think they are talking to someone else when they mention a criminal being on grid

Well that is the game mechanics, I can't say I didn't read them because I did. Easy to forget when almost every system doesn't have a problem with -2 to -3. The sec status slowly dropping the more time I spend in factional warfare dungeons with no realistic choice but to shoot anyone that enters. Although I think once a player did come into a complex I was in without the intention of killing me. It was a noob in a starter corp, I didn't shoot him, my team mate did though.

Oh god not this argument again.
Never said I had a solution.
Some FW players think that Neutrals should automatically go suspect upon entering a FW plex. I'm not so sure but there is an issue.

True, they are wanabe pirates but they have no business in FW plexes.

No they spawn on a timer, there are always at least 4 which are on a respawn cycle of 30 minutes. The mission sites are different, named things similar to High sec missions but they do appear on overview when they are opened. FW Complexes/Dungeons have a single NPC which by being alive prevents the enemy from capturing the site. Mission sites have numerous NPC much like high sec missions. FW Complexes Appear on overview when they are opened but they are an anomaly so as soon as they spawn they are accessible from probe scanner. Your business is piracy if you are a neutral entering a FW complex for the purpose of killing the players inside and looting them. FW Militia do not enter a Complex for that purpose. It is necessary to remove enemy ships from a complex to prevent them from capturing it. If you enter a plex looking for enemy and there are a bunch of pirates in there you can bet 99.9% that they are going to attack if they don't run for it.

Well I'm not suggesting that you should be able to engage non flashys on a gate or a station or a moon or a Jove Observatory or even a mission site. There is no legal activity on offer for neutrals inside FW plexes.

I'm also kind of failing... as whenever I pew in low sec I get hit with sec status hits even though when I pew in high sec I don't. Seems a bit unfair to the 'pirates' that the militia don't seem to suffer the same penalties normally as they do. Is this a privilege issue?
They do suffer the same penalties
Militia that do a lot of random fighting tend to have lower sec status than those who stick to the objective but there is no legit area where you don't get covered in pirate dung even if you are not interested in fighting every random ship that comes into system for no reason other than to stop them from killing you.

Just have heard similar complaints many times in the past and I never really understood why, as I had assumed that PVP was an integral thing with it. It always struck me as odd that it bothered pvp pilots that people were willing to offer them free pvp.
They are in a permanent wardeck with the opposing militias. Other than that they get no privilleges.

They do want pvp, so they went. I understand that you're having your war there, but it doesn't really change the low sec aspect. For most of them anything that's not blue is a valid target. I'd consider them an environmental hazard if I were you, don't hate them for it.
I do see their perspective, why would they be bothered whether or not militia get a sec status hit for shooting them inside a FW complex ?

The problem is, I'm in a FW plex fighting legitimate war targets, you are there shooting people for no reason,.
If I shoot you I should get a medal not a sec hit.

Did you shoot a non valid lowsec target? By that I mean had more then -5 standing, was not suspect/criminal, did not accept a limited engagement with you, was not a member of your corp if friendly fire is turned on and much more likely was not at war with you? If he was none of these things YOU were the pirate when you shot first HAN
Yes that is how it currently works, you can enter a FW site and position your pirate ships at exactly your optimum range from me and if I shoot anyone with less than -5 sec status while they are doing that then I get a sec hit. I stick by my original comment on the matter, this mechanic is flawed.

You suffer the same consequences as anyone else in low sec for doing low sec things to other low sec people. No medals. Just because your war is sanctioned does not mean it is exempt from looters, bandits and raiders. Just like any other war ever anywhere. Taking matters into your own hands justifiably results in the same consequences it does for anyone else, and no... the pirates and pvpers are not going to respect your boundaries.
You're entitled to your opinion snowflake

It is not flawed. The FW plexes come in 3 different sizes of ships that are allowed to get in. As the "pirate" enter and positione himself, you can do the same: keep moving in your better position. As him start to target you, do the same. If he open fire, you will have your fight with no loss of sec status. If the "pirate" is not alone (do you watch on D-scan while you are in the plex right?) or he is in a ship that you judge better than yours you have the work to be situational awareness and keep your decisions about fight or run. Many different is the situation where a militian is only "farming" the plex and pretend to / don't want interferences from outside. But it is not how FW is intended to work. Or Eve itself. When you joining FW you should expect interferences all the time. Oh well, all the times you undock, FW or not, HS or not you have to expect the possibility to have "interferences". It is how EVE works.
Why would I want to fight him ?

Secondly if "He" is establishing perfect range before engaging, then why don't you, ya know, turn on your afterburner and go to your optimal range. Several times I've MWD's my vengeance to face hugger range when Eve U comes in to play since they cannot shoot first.
Well it doesn't work like that in practice.
It is more Group A Militia in FW Plex sees Group B Pirates Enter System in Local Group A Sees Group B in close proximity of the acceleration gate on Dscan Group B also knows Group A are inside a FW Complex through using DS Group B Enters the plex OK Coral fast draw wild west occurs.

I don't mind shooting them and losing sec status but I think it is too compulsory to lose sec status to complete the FW objectives.
This game funnels career paths too much. Everyone becomes a pirate arms dealer eventually.

Exactly , the reality is everyone ignores the sec penalty and shoots anyway but quite a few will not shoot pods if they are going to get the sec status hit for it because the penalty is much higher and at the end of the day a pod is limited threat.
